In The Spotlight

Rob Edwards – “Dreaming”

Based in Adelaide, this Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist blends jazz, blues and R&B into an authentic sound. He’s supported artists such as Christine Anu, performed at Harvest Rock Festival and Sydney Fringe and was a finalist for Best Aboriginal Artist in the SA Music Awards. Inspired by Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei and Tom Misch, he released his debut single “Just Anyone” in 2017.

Highlighting his unique storytelling talent by narrating a very personal account of his First Nation family’s forced removal during the Stolen Generation, his new single focuses on dealing with trauma and hardship. Starting smooth, the song soon gets dipped in a funky rhythm, bright brass and lively keys. And with his soulful, Stevie Wonder-like vocal skills, this jam is an invigorating groove.
