Hailing from Brisbane and consisting of theatre actor Joshua Mulheran and Isla Vera frontman James Waters, this Australian synth-pop duo grew up together and played in a high school band. With Josh creating the lyrics and James the melodies, they’ve forged an 80s-inspired synth sound. Inspired by Death Cab For Cutie, Chrvrches and The 1975, they released their debut single “Braille” in 2017.
Lyrically referencing the painful loss of Josh’s best friend Courtney, their new single merges a vibrant and nostalgic electronic soundscape with personal, emotive words. Instantly gripping with a retro 80s synth run and a driving beat, they added a sonic sizzle and thunderous drums. And with passionate vocals reminding the listener to stay strong and live life, this voltaic tune is an inspiring groove.
