In The Spotlight

Olivia Nelson – “No Angel”

Based in London, this rising British singer and songwriter was born to a mother from the island of St. Vincent. She was raised with multi-cultural influences, both in life as in music. The basis of her musical upbringing was an electric mix of modern R&B and Motown classics. At 21 she worked together with Dutch-born producer Jarreau Vandal and performed on some of his songs. Inspired by The Chi-Lites, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, she debuted with “Up All Night” in 2017.

Recounting the relatable story about being cheated on, her new single takes a different approach than most songs about infidelity by telling it from the cheaters point of view. Taken from her EP “Wings” and accompanied by a melodic mix of silky soul and luxuriant R&B, she weaves an intricate, velvety soundscape. And with her honey-sweet vocals emphasizing the paradoxal nature of the cheaters’ perspective with the stunningly beautiful melody, this song is truly phenomenal.
