Grace Pettis – “Joy”

Based in Nashville, this folk singer and songwriter was born into a family of musicians. She grew up watching her dad perform on stage and was engrossed with the whole dynamic. Later she started playing open mics and at church. Since she’s written hundreds of songs, some recorded by Sara Hickman, and has 3 co-writes on the 2022 Grammy nominated Ruthie Foster album “Healing Time”. Inspired by Joni Mitchell, Lauryn Hill and Brandi Carlisle, she debuted with “Two Birds” in 2012.

Written as a reminder to herself and anybody who needs to hear it that there is so much beauty in life, her new single is medicine for feeling down. Taken from her album “Down To The Letter”, the song starts slow, with an electric guitar setting the mood, soon a mellow rhythm gets added and her emotive, soulful vocals take the reins. All leading to the full-bodied chorus, filled with warm organ tones and classic horns, this multi-layered tune sounds welcoming and joyous.

Jordana – “We Get By”

Born in Washington D.C. as Jordana Nye, this singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist took up playing violin as a child, after a recommendation from her church organist father. Since then she’s added guitar, bass and ukulele to her skill set and began honing her craft by busking on the streets. Now based in L.A., she’s collaborated with artists like Inner Wave and Dent May. Inspired by Grizzly Bear, The Strokes and Andy Shauf, she released her debut single “Canvas” in 2018.

Written as a homage to true love, where material things lose their importance when you get to bask in the warmth of pure love, her new single is a delightfully 60s/70s Laurel Canyon-esque experience. From the acoustic guitar start, leading to a mirthful rhythm, textured harmonies and the sunlit Californian shimmer, it’s her joyous, indie-folk violin artistry and her gilded vocals bringing all elements together in an ear-pleasing tune, filled with hope and unadulterated romance.
