In The Spotlight

Daisy Veacock – “When I Used To Spend The Night”

Based in South London, this British singer and songwriter grew up around music and live performances which planted a seed, which sprouted by attending three arts heavy schools. She has been writing her own music since she was 16, creating an unique blend of pop, jazz and rhythm and blues. Since then she’s opened for Lucy May Walker and four times for Jools Holland. Inspired by artists like Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Adele, she released her debut “It Wouldn’t Be Fair” in 2020.

Reminiscing about a previous relationship, her new single conjures up a deliciously mellow mood. Starting off with a smooth, jazzy guitar, soft keys and a gentle rhythm, she takes the listener by the ears and guides them through her melodic world. Finding some upbeat vibes in the lively chorus, she adds some alluring horns and honeyed harmonies into the mix. And with the refreshing honesty of her story-telling vocals, this tune is a delectable, sugarcoated and jazz-infused groove.
