Based in Melbourne, this Australian singer and songwriter with Samoan-Indian roots grew up listening to a wide variety of music, from R&B and soul to gospel and jazz. A trained jazz vocalist, she forged an unique fusion of soul, jazz and R&B. She was also a member of the band Astro Travellers, opened for the likes of Pip Millett and Mildlife and played festivals like Splendour In The Grass. Inspired by artists like Anita Baker and Erykah Badu, she released her debut “Nuketown” in 2018.
Exploring all various aspects of her multi-cultural identity, her new single chronicles her own experience with peer pressure to succeed. Wrapped in a truly magical blend of late 90s/early 00s R&B and colourful pop, she sparkles from the very first note. With a pulsating rhythm, sleek synths and touches of a steel drum, as well as heavenly R&B backing vocals, the velvety-smooth tune has a seductive quality. And with her charismatic vocals, this jam is full of emotion and moxie.
