In The Spotlight

Millie Gibson – “Ripple”

Originally from Winchester, VA and now based in New York City, this singer and songwriter got introduced to the arts by her mother from a young age. She grew up singing in school choirs and studied Music Performance at McNally Smith College in St.Paul, MN. Since moving to New York City, she’s played venues like Rockwood Music Hall, as well as opening for Ego Ella May in London, UK. Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Alicia Keys and Sade, she released her debut single “Break It” in 2017.

Reflecting on the effects on her soul of a period of depression in her life, her new single shows that the hope for a positive change can guide you through the dark. Capturing her honest lyrics in a soothing soundscape, it blends neo-soul, R&B and jazz into a warm and intimate melody. Starting with a gentle bass and mellow rhythm, she soon adds a smooth piano and sleek guitar solo. And with her silky vocal skills and jazz-infused scatting, this introspective tune is an intricate stunner.

In The Spotlight

Sierra Spirit – “Easy”

Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Native American singer and songwriter Sierra Spirit Kihega infuses her music with her heritage of being part of both her tribes Otoe-Missouria and Keetoowah Cherokee. Blending her rich cultural background with her own life’s observations, she created an one-of-a-kind Americana-infused indie rock sound and combined it with her generational gift for storytelling. Inspired by Phoebe Bridgers, The Japanese House and Ethel Cain, she debuted with “Ghost” in 2024.

Telling the story about the Deer Woman, a deity from her culture, who lures away people with bad intentions, her new single uses traditional folklore to emphasize the reality of dealing with a toxic relationship. Taken from her recently released EP “Coin Toss”, the song starts with a synth drone and her emotive voice. Joined in the upbeat chorus by a lively rhythm and bright guitars, it’s her heartrending vocals taking us along into her world, that make this mesmerizing tune truly special.
