Wallice – “Flash In The Pan”

Born and raised in Los Angeles as Wallice Watanabe, this singer and songwriter got her first taste of showbusiness aged 4, when she appeared in an episode of Frasier. She attended The New School in New York, majoring in jazz performance and voice, but dropped out to pursue her music career full-time. Since she’s played the All Things Go Festival and supported The 1975. Inspired by Weezer and MGMT, she released “Punching Bag”, her first single on the Dirty Hit label, in 2020.

Trying to capture the emotional struggles that come with unrequited love, her new single is a melancholic brew of soulful smoothness. Taken from her recently released, eclectic debut album “The Jester”, the song combines touches of 70s Carole King and 80s Sade with some Motown horns. Forging an enchanting melody, she adds some unexpected, but perfectly blending, rock guitars into the mix. And with her mesmeric vocals putting us under her spell, this lush soul-pop tune is a true gem.
