Adelide – “Shake It”

Hailing from Florida, but now based in Brooklyn, this singer and songwriter was born as Kayla Raquel Schwartz. She fell in love with music at a young age, studying piano, guitar and voice. She’s got a bachelor’s degree in studio music and jazz vocal performance at the Frost School of Music and a master’s in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory. Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Donna Summer, she debuted her soul-pop sound on “Eleanor” in 2022.

Narrating the annoying situation of getting stuck talking to a horrible person in public who just won’t leave you alone, her new single tells a relatable tale. Inviting those lyrics into a mesmerizing soundscape, the song starts with retro synth chords, before being joined by a bouncy rhythm. Ascending to a sparkling and anthemic chorus, the neon-dipped melody blends soft and mysterious with lively and dazzling. And with her hypnotic vocals, this multifarious tune is utterly magical.
