Tyler Mullendore – “Mama Cry”

Hailing from Cape Breton and now based in Halifax, this Canadian singer and songwriter got his start by becoming a finalist on Canadian Idol in 2007. Since he’s also won eOne’s national Big Break songwriting competition. He’s performed at Nova Scotia Music Week in Wolfville and recently in The Carleton and the Marquee Ballroom in Halifax, the latter as part of The Last Waltz spotlight. Inspired by Bob Seger, John Prine and Van Morrison, he released his debut “Make It Through” in 2015.

Written as a plea to a loved one struggling with addiction to get their life back on track, his new single is heartfelt and painfully honest. Taken from his recently released EP “Time Heals Everything”, the song effortlessly blends Americana with classic soul. Starting with an acoustic guitar and joined by an electric guitar and a mellow rhythm, the soothing melody feels like a warm embrace. And with the emotive grit of his vocals, this imposing, heartrending tune is deeply personal.
