In The Spotlight

Beckah Amani – “Call Home”

Born in Tanzania to Burundian parents, this globe-trotting singer and songwriter moved to Australia at 7 years old and had a very musical upbringing. Being exposed to the multi-cultural music scene from East-African rhythms to the Australian pop and rock sound shaped her eclectic sound. She’s got nominated for Songwriter Of The Year at the APRA Music Awards and shared a stage with Coldplay. Inspired by Nina Simone, Adele and Ed Sheeran, she debuted with “Standards” in 2020.

Trying to capture the depression felt right after a breakup, her new single also reminds us that at the end of the darkness a bright new future looms. Taken from her recently released album “This Is How I Remember It”, it’s the melodic warmth radiating from the sumptuous notes that makes this a mesmerizing tune. With a gentle guitar and a lively beat setting the scene, it’s her striking vocals taking us from vulnerable to powerhouse that makes this gem sound unforgettable.
