Tonia – “Harmony”

Growing up in a musical family in Nottingham, this singer/songwriter started playing the violin and viola aged 6 and the piano soon after. She played viola in the Nottingham Youth Orchestra and had classical singing training. After learning the guitar, she took to songwriting. She moved to Liverpool to study music at LIPA and since played The Cavern Club and supported Say She She on their tour. Inspired by Lianne La Havas, Carole King and Etta James, she debuted with “Flux” in 2021.

Lyrically taking us through the various stages of a breakup, her new single progresses from anger, via confusion, to eventually acceptance. Wrapping the emotive words in a surprisingly upbeat, retro-touched melody, it’s the peppy drums, invigorating bass, bright guitars and cheeky backing harmonies that draw us into her world. And with her imposing vocals taking us from emotion to elation, this infectious pop groove blends tender melancholy with a high-spirited danceability.

David Cloyd – “Drive With Me”

Born in Wilmington, this singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer attended the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas, majoring in music performance. He moved to New York and worked for EMI Music Publishing, while playing the indie rock scene with his band. He went solo in 2007. Now based in Buffalo, he started teaching music and work on his own material. Likened to Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Peter Gabriel, he debuted with “Unhand Me, You Fiend!” in 2009.

Written about the fact that music creates a hopeful brightness in an otherwise dark and difficult time, his new single injects some optimism in a pessimistic world. Taken from his upcoming album “Red Sky Warning”, expected in April 2025, the intimate song starts with a soft acoustic guitar and smoothly adds a warm percussion into the mix, creating a luxuriant soundscape. And with his soothing, mesmerizing vocals, this lush, heartfelt tune is filled with emotive sophistication.
