Don West – “What Turns You On”

Haling from Sydney, this Australian singer and songwriter was born with soul music running through his veins. He learned to play his Dad’s guitar from the 70s and soul, blues and R&B chords by his brother. His first steps on the path to a musical career was when he joined his brother’s band Sons Of The East as a bassist. After teaming up with producer Kesmar, he began a solo career. Inspired by legends like Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye and Al Green, he debuted with “Money” in 2019.

Created using analogue equipment with real instruments recorded to tape, his new single is a sultry slice of 60s soul. Taken from his recently released, self-titled EP, the song is a silky-smooth, highly polished melody that wouldn’t look out of place in a dark basement club. With hypnotic guitar plucks, a mellow rhythm and soft horns setting the scene, it’s his velveteen, vintage-touched vocals gently stroking your ears, that make this a sensuous love letter to seductive classic soul.

Alessi Rose – “Pretty World”

Born in Derby and based in London, this British singer and songwriter loved performing and writing poetry from a young age. Although she initially pursued an athletic career following in her triathlete dad’s footsteps, her first love was music. She began uploading reels of her singing to Instagram. During Covid she taught herself production and started uploading demos to BBC Introducing. Inspired by Gracie Abrams, Chappell Roan and Lorde, she released her debut “Say Ur Mine” in 2023.

Dedicating the song to her fans and emphasizing that dreams definitely can come true, her new single tries to capture her journey from dreamer to sold-out shows. Taken from her upcoming EP “For Your Validation”, expected on January 17th, she’s created a very playful melody from the fun-loving keys to the sprightly beat. And with a slight operatic tone to her Kate Bush-reminiscent, mesmerizing vocals, this hypnotic pop tune weaves an emotional, spellbinding sonic tapestry.
