Charlotte Grayson – “Get Outta My Yard”

Hailing from Hartlepool, this British singer and songwriter grew up with music, as her dad, granddad and uncle were all in bands. She first picked up an ukulele aged 14 and a few months later she was already performing at open mic nights. Self-taught on both the ukulele and the guitar, she wrote her first song at 15. Since she’s played festivals like Leazes Live and the Tall Ships Festival. Inspired by Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves and Melanie Martinez, she debuted with “Maybe” in 2018.

Singing about way too one-sided relationships, from friends that take things too far in a drunken haze to romantic interests that ghost you, her new single is a clear response to those happenings. Recorded with her now defunct band The Shame Areas, she combines the feisty lyrics with an invigorating pop-rock melody. With a vitalizing rhythm and bracing electric guitars giving it some retro-touched moxie, it’s her sassy, powerhouse vocals that make this vibrant groove irresistible.
