Kari Lyn – “Home”

Surrounded by music and storytelling, this Canadian singer/songwriter grew up listening to the “Saturday Night Hoedown” radio show and to the stories her grandfather Tommy Gallant told. At 19 she left home to travel around the world and backpack through countries like Thailand, Australia and Columbia. She’s been nominated for Rock Album of the Year at the 2020 PEI Music Awards. Inspired by Amy Winehouse and Johnny Cash, she debuted with her album “Hit The Ground” in 2020.

Reminiscing about the fact that she travelled across 29 countries searching for something she thought she was lacking, her new single is about the realization that what she was looking for was at home all along. Telling her tale on the back of some cheerful, sunlit vibes, she eases us into her authentic world. And with a lighthearted rhythm, a jaunty fiddle and a jollity in her warm vocals, this catchy, singalong tune, combined with vivid storytelling, merrily invites the sonic sun in.

Leanne Gallati – “Villain 2.0”

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, this rising singer and songwriter graduated from university with a musical theatre degree in 2016. Choosing the music scene over the theatre, she started her career as the lead singer of the funk-rock band Cosmonaut Radio. Solo since 2022, she’s performed at renowned venues such as Brooklyn Bowl and Mercury Lounge. Drawing inspiration from artists like Lawrence, Lake Street Dive and Rubblebucket, she released her debut “Selfish” in 2022.

Brimming with hints of defiance and rebellion, as well as hope, her new single reflects on lessons learned the hard way. Forging an impressive sonic balance with a driving percussion, playful piano and rock-infused guitars, she bounces from powerful pop to dynamic rock with ease. Leading us to a delicious electric guitar solo, it’s her passionate, power-house vocals reminding us that you can both be a princess and the villain in a story, that fill this riveting earworm with virulent sonic fire.
