Madeleine Rose Witney – “Shine”

Hailing from Kentish Town, London, this British singer and songwriter takes retro glamour to a new level. She was given her first taste of performing aged 13 in a school concert. Proficient in ukulele, she grew up with a love for jazz, blues and 50s/60s Rhythm & Blues. Since the start of her career she’s played various renowned venues such as The Troubadour and SJQ. With a wide-range of influences like Julie London and Minnie Riperton, she debuted with “Behind Those Eyes” in 2024.

Painting a vivid image of a woman walking home alone at night being both vulnerable and defiant, her new single conjures up the moody ambience of a smoky basement jazz club. Highly polished and intricately constructed, the ethereal melody is filled with nostalgic charisma. Starting with a fragile guitar and soon joined by a mellow rhythm, the song intensifies with a smooth orchestral sound. And with the hypnotic allure of her vocals, this lush torch song is pure sonic silk.
