In The Spotlight

Benny Morrell – “Where Did The Time Go”

Born in Melbourne, this emerging Australian singer, songwriter and rapper began performing live at the age of 6. He grew up with music like Fleetwood Mac and Queen and attended drama classes in school. Initially writing poetry, he gravitated to writing songs in his teen years. Since then he’s performed at a multitude of festivals like Subsonic and Open Season and shared the stage with Kita Alexander. Inspired by A Tribe Called Quest and Gang Starr, he debuted with “Hometown” in 2022.

Written as a love letter to old memories, his new single explores the emotions that come with growing apart from a loved one. Capturing the bittersweet lyrics in a breezy pop melody, it’s the sonic stew of a resonant beat, shimmering synths and radiant guitars that forge this full-flavoured auditory treat. Taken from his upcoming EP “All That’s Left”, expected on October 9th, he enriches the tune with warm and reflective vocals, filling every note with poignancy, positivity and hope.
