Born in New Jersey as Caroline Pennell and based in Los Angeles, this singer and songwriter began writing when she was 11, but started seriously pursuing it in her early 20s. She participated in The Voice in 2013, being eliminated in week 8. Since then she wrote for artists such as Ava Max and Demi Lovato and toured with Lizzy McAlpine and Holly Humberstone. Inspired by The Japanese House and Phoebe Bridgers, she debuted her new moniker on “I Can’t Wait To Be British” in 2021.
Effectively breaking through the taboo of discussing uncomfortable topics, her new single explores the emotions and depression that getting your period can bring. Wrapping her open and honest lyrics in an opulent, cinematic melody, the song opens with a mild piano and leads to a vivid chorus. Reminiscing of a real experience where a band member saw beautiful, glass-like patterns in the clouds while high on mushrooms, their new single uses the happening as a metaphor for unpredictable emotions in a relationship. Initially starting with an 80s electric synth drone, the song evolves into a sophisticated, 70s AOR-inspired smooth groove. With a soft drum, mellow keys and vibrant guitars, it’s the chill vibe of the harmonic vocals that escorts us through their colorful, sonic world.
