In The Spotlight

Hunter Sheridan – “Stuck In October”

Based in Ontario, this Canadian singer and songwriter grew up with an actor and musician father who ignited his interest in music through playing guitar. He’s been a part of several projects in his career like West Hammock and A Little Place Called Aspen and has been releasing songs solo since 2019. He’s been nominated as songwriter of the year at the 2020 Oshawa Music Awards. Inspired by Hippo CampusFoster The People and Patrick Droney, he debuted with “Skin & Bones” in 2019.

Singing about trying to hold on to a seemingly irreplaceable romance while dealing with the fear of losing that love, his new single combines vulnerability with a peppy melody. Recorded in his home studio, the song starts with a shimmering synth and a piano and evolves with an uplifting beat and a bit of added oomph. Completing the sonic glow of the instrumentation, it’s the tenderness and sensitivity of his vocals that create a candlelit warmth that wraps around you like a blanket.

Hope Winter – “Once In A While (In Love Again)”

Hailing from London, this British singer and songwriter is a self-taught musician, who used music as a coping mechanism for grief and illness she experienced growing up. She left school at 16 in order to focus fully on her songwriting career, releasing songs through social media. Since she’s had songs used for various TV adverts and was appointed Board Director of the famed Ivors Academy. Inspired by Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell and D’angelo, she released her debut “Small Talk” in 2025.

Singing about finally allowing herself to fall in love again after a period of feeling jaded about romance, her new single captures the cathartic journey to seeing the beauty of life. With her heartfelt lyrics wrapped in a nostalgically mellow R&B melody, it’s the laidback rhythm, soft keys and warm guitars converging together into a sweet soundscape that create an inviting sonic potpourri. And with her enchanting, ear-stroking vocals, this salubrious smooth groove is an exceptional gem.
