Born in Stoke On Trent, this British singer and songwriter grew up watching Hanna Montana and playing SingStar on the Nintendo Wii. She developed her sound in Manchester and is now based in London. She studied music at the Royal Northern College of Music and progressed to play venues such as The Camden Assembly and the O2 Ritz, as well as festivals like OTHR and The Great Escape. Inspired by Dua Lipa, Charli XCX and Miley Cyrus, she debuted with “I Don’t Wanna Be Her” in 2019.
Singing about the juxtaposition of feeling both sad and happy while holding on to a summertime love long after it has slipped away, her new single combines bittersweet lyrics with an upbeat alt-pop sizzle. Slowly building the sonic excitement with retro synth effects, it’s the reverberant beat that is the driving force. Soaring into the infectious chorus, the synths get a sparkle and the drums extra oomph. And with her shimmering vocals, this gripping groove is a cleverly layered tune.
