In The Spotlight

Marika Che – “Saint Charles Avenue”

Based in Los Angeles, this singer and songwriter was born into a multi-cultural family due to a Korean mom and American dad. Always feeling pressure to reach for stardom, she began singing, dancing, modelling and acting. Together with her sister Miró Myung Justad she started the band The Neons when they were teens and in 2013 formed the band Tangerine, which played festivals like Bumbershoot. Inspired by Courtney Love, Mazzy Star and Karen O, she debuted with “Hot Moon” in 2025.

Telling the story about realizing that a relationship has run its course while still trying to hold on to the dream, her new single is about embracing the new-found independence. Taken from her upcoming debut album “Bright Flame”, expected on April 8th, the intricate melody starts with a singular acoustic guitar and builds up with a laidback percussion and is joined by luscious horns. And with her tantalizing vocals, this lavish tune blends delicate intimacy with cinematic fervor.
