Born as Christian Gates in Cleveland, this gifted singer, songwriter and producer started classical piano lessons aged 6. He’s since also become proficient on violin, trumpet, guitar and bass. Since the start of his career he’s won the American Songwriter Contest in 2023 and NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2024. He’s also known for his dynamic live shows at venues likeĀ Harlow’s and festivals like SXSW. Inspired by Earth, Wind & Fire, The Beatles and Lauryn Hill, he released his debut “Energy” in 2017.
Centring around themes of emotional connection and finding that all important safe space within ourselves or with loved ones, his new single is all about the warm feeling of home. Celebrating classic soul, while intricately blending it with modern R&B and a dash of 80s soft-rock, this song feels comfortably familiar. Driven by a retro-touched electric guitar and a heartbeat rhythm, it’s his emotion-filled, soul-infused vocals that make this passionate groove sound intoxicating.
