In The Spotlight

Betty Taylor – “Sucker Punch”

Named after lead vocalist Sophie Patrick’s grandmother, this Australian band of best friends further consists of Kayla Smart on guitar, Claire Chittick on bass and Katie Ishaque on drums. Since their inception the band has played headline tours as well as supporting The Buoys and The Grogans. They’ve also elated audiences at festivals such as Groovin’ The Moo and NYE On The Hill. Often compared to artists like The War On Drugs, Julia Jacklin and Middle Kids, they debuted with “Stallin'” in 2022.

Telling the story of meeting someone special just when you’ve sworn off love and dating altogether, their new single is an exhilarating blend of indie-dream-pop. Melodically celebrating the Australian summer, the song mixes sun-soaked vibes with sheer indie-pop vitality. With a reverberant beat at its core, it’s the boisterous electric guitars that add some sonic moxie. And with luminous harmonies coasting on the soundwaves, this dazzling tune is a heart-thumping romantic surprise.

In The Spotlight

Lake Drive – “Tell Me All About It”

Formed in Milwaukee in 2022 as a four-piece, this pop-rock band now consists of lead vocalist Rayven Burdette, guitarist Brandon Detaege and drummer Adam Secord. Having met through mutual friends, they soon realised they had a musical connection. Since their inception they’ve played venues like The Rave/Eagles Club and several festivals, such as Summerfest and the Bitter Jester Music Festival. Inspired by The1975 and Machine Gun Kelly, they debuted with “Dance Until We’re Dead” in 2023.

Guiding us through the emotional minefield of betrayal, their new single tells the tale of the backhanded actions of a bitter ex-lover. Creating their own unique sound from indie pop-rock influences, the song has an imposing cinematic feel. From the shimmering synths and whimsical effects to the high-octane chorus of exuberant drums and wild guitars, this scintillating melody is pure vibrancy. And with their stalwart, energetic vocals, this spirited tune is an infectious groove.
