Nikko Gray – “Feathers”

Daughter to the late singer and songwriter Maureen Gray, aka GIRL, it’s no surprise that this vocalist was trained in music from a young age. Born in England, she was raised in London and The Netherlands before moving to Los Angeles aged 15. With her newly formed band, she’s held a residency at Santa Barbara’s Velvet Jones and opened for high school friend Shwayze on his Feel Good tour in 2014.

With sensuous, R&B plumage, her alluring new single is a mellow groove. Bobby Oroza – “Lonely Girl”

Born in Helsinki to a singer mom and a gypsy jazz guitarist dad, this vocalist, songwriter and musician was raised on Latin music. Growing up, he felt influenced by his parents’ record collection, which ranged from jazz and blues to Motown and gospel. Versed in guitar and percussion, he started work as a musician in his teens. His unique sound led to the release of his debut single “This Love” in 2018.

Soaked in suave Northern Soul charm, his new single takes your ears on a welcome trek back to the golden age of aural romanticism. Driven by a peppy percussion, the breezy guitars create a sun-lit, laid-back ambience in which his creamy, classic-styled voice and 60s-dipped backing vocals conjure up images of a Summers picnic in the park. Sir Woman – “Highroad”

Known for co-founding and fronting indie pop band Wild Child and being a member of 70s-style pop-rock band Glorietta, Austin-based Kelsey Wilson shows that she has a lot more musical strings to her bow. Over time and across the diverse projects, she’s co-written and sung on over 15 albums spanning a plethora of genres. Her latest creation allows her to delve into her vintage funky and soulful side.

The first single of her forthcoming debut album “Party City” puts a funkalicious appetizer in a blender with a 70s soul seasoning and a dash of retro pop and creates a tasty fusion of groovy delights. The sprightly piano, easygoing rhythm and jovial horns lay down a happiness-inducing melody, while her smooth, effervescent vocals and joyous backing harmonies put on a soul-dipped Summery sheen.

Momo Said – “Sunny Side Of The Street”

Although he was born in Morocco, this singer, songwriter, musician and multilinguist was raised in Italy. Listening to every record and tape his father used to sell on the market, he immersed himself in multiple genres, ranging from funk and soul, to jazz and disco. Inspired by artists like Curtis Mayfield and People’s Choice and with a strong creative flair, he released his debut album “Spirit” in 2013.

With a touch of James Brown, a pinch of Earth, Wind & Fire and a whole load of his own passion for 70s funk and soul, this is a funkalicious retro trip into the neon haze of the hottest discoteques around. It’s the invigorating rhythm, disco strings and blazing brass generating a fiery groove and the addition of his mellifluous vocals, that makes you put on your flares and platform shoes and boogie down.

Tess Henley – “Better”

Born to a professional singer mom and being the younger sister of musician Carson Henley, music runs in the family of this award-winning singer, songwriter and pianist. She debuted her soul sound in 2008 with her album “Easy To Love”. Since then she’s won a slew of independent music awards, worked together with famed producer Don Was and shared the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire and Jill Scott.

Serving up a tantalizing nibble of her upcoming, same-titled EP, due to drop on July 19th, this single is oozing with vintage funky flavors, dipped in a bit of soul spice. By taking a jaunty, old-school funk beat, playful piano and spirited brass and radiating them with warm Summery sunbeams and a touch of 70s charm, she devised a perky auditory wave for her buoyant, soulful vocals to surf over.
