Joy Oladokun – “Blame”

Hailing from a small town in Arizona, this ardent singer and songwriter started playing guitar aged 10. Drawing inspiration from artists like Tracy Chapman and Lauryn Hill, she fused folk, R&B and pop and began writing songs with no intention of pursuing music as a career. After a friend encouraged her to follow her muse, she moved to Los Angeles and in 2015 released her debut EP “Cathedrals”.

Reaching deep into her cornucopian bag of classic soul, her new single is overflowing with impassioned warmth. Opening with a tranquil acoustic guitar and a mild beat, she highlights her sultry, slightly smoky vocals, before the infectious handclaps, gospel-like backing singers and vintage keys come alive in the spirited chorus. SUN SILVA – “Just The Romantic”

Four years ago, this quartet of musicians met at London’s Royal Academy Of Music, where they were following classical training on various instruments. Influenced by the likes of Radiohead and Tame Impala, they first started with improvisation in search of their own distinctive sound. They headed to the studio with producer Adam Lunn, resulting in their debut single “Blue Light” in 2018.

Drifting off into a dreamy auditory experience, their third single shows off their wide-ranging songwriting mastery. Kelly Jarrard – “He Can Wait”

Hailing from Stockbridge, GA, this singer and songwriter taught herself to play guitar aged 13 and, inspired by classic sounds such as Motown, soul and rhythm & blues, she started writing her own material. She graduated with a degree in music from Clayton State University. Influenced by Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Amy Winehouse, she uses her 60s-dipped voice to create a soulfully hip sound.

Taken from her debut EP “It’s Time”, her latest single takes hold of your dancing shoes from the very first bracing saxophone tones. Immersed in glorious Motown hues, the foot-tappin’ rhythm, harmonious choral singers and funky brass erupts into a colorful flood of vintage vibes. And with her sumptuous vocals, filled with 60s soulfullness, you can definitely have your musical cake and eat it too!
