Jake Whiskin – “Long Way Home”

Born in Leeds, this British singer and songwriter started playing Sunday League football as a child, but traded it in for going through his dad’s record collection. He taught himself how to play guitar and began writing relatable, melancholic songs. Inspired by the Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana, as well as the Americana of Neil Young and Tom Petty, he released his debut single “Dark Days” in 2019.

Trying to find the balance between extremes such as religion on the one hand and smoking too much weed on the other, his new single is a lyrical rollercoaster. Taken from his self-titled debut album, expected on November 4th, it’s the singing electric guitar and folky rhythm that effortlessly blends a 70s sound with modern production. And with his shimmering vocals, this tune feels like home.

Abigail Osborn – “Don’t Have The Heart”

Hailing from Denver and now Nashville-based, this singer and songwriter grew up in a musical family, listening to country classic like The Chicks and Garth Brooks. At 15 she first picked up the guitar and started playing. She began playing in her church worship band, but started writing original songs at 17. Inspired by MUNA, The Japanse House and The Aces, she debuted with “Drive All Night” in 2021.

Chronicling the emotional turmoil that comes with having to tell someone you don’t want to be with them, her new single captures the heart-wrenching tale in a captivating alt-pop coating. Also featured on the TV Show Catfish on MTV, it’s the balance between the mellow start and the bustling chorus of an spirited beat and scintillant synths with her hypnotic vocals that makes this tune irresistible.

Raised in Kansas in a musical family, this rising singer and songwriter grew up around her parents’ love of bluegrass and folk. In high school she performed in choirs and in musical theatre. Taking elements from various genres, she created an unique alt-pop sound. Inspired by a wide range of influences from Alison Krauss and Elton John to Lennon Stella and Lorde, she debuted with “Fantomlimb” in 2020.

Narrating the deflating feeling of emotionally draining yourself for the benefit of others, her new single shows her vulnerable side, while enveloping it in a lush nostalgic 70s vibe. Sleepy Tom – “This Thing Called Life”

Born as Cam Tatham in Squamish, this Canadian DJ and music producer started playing guitar at the age of 10 and spent high school playing in hard rock cover bands. His musical world opened up with he discovered dance music. Since he’s collaborated with Diplo and remixed for artists such as Martin Solveig. Inspired by Mark Ronson, Radiohead and Justice, he debuted on his EP “The Currency” in 2013.

Hang up the mirror ball and put on your flared jeans and bright wide-collared shirt, cause his new single combines classic and Nu-disco into a dance floor banger. Slowly coming to life with a futuristic synth and funky bass, soon it bursts out with an invigorating disco groove. With the classic strings, a modern shimmer and insatiable rhythms, this is an uplifting slice of flavorful funkalicious nostalgia.

Levina – “Danger”

Born in Bonn, but now London-based, this German singer and songwriter grew up in a household where a piano took pride of place. She’s studying Music Management at the London College of Music. Drawing inspiration from Avril Lavigne, Anastacia and Ella Fitzgerald, she forged a power-house sound. She went on to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 with the song “Perfect Life”.

Lyrically underlining the fact that society doesn’t seem to care about the world’s issues, unless it affects them personally, her new single focuses the attention on the actual problems we’re all facing. Starting off smooth and imposing with a shimmering synth and majestic vocals, the chorus adds a powerful pop-rock glaze. With bold guitars and bracing drums, this is an empowering anthem.

Muroki – “Simple Pleasures”

Born as Muroki Mbote Wa Githinji in Raglan, this Kenyan-New Zealand singer and songwriter started playing guitar at the age of 8. He started recording music aged 15, after forming the band Cloak Bay with Lennox Reynolds. In 2019 he joined the band Masaya as a bassist. Inspired by Frank Ocean, D’angelo and GoldLink, he debuted his solo jazz, funk, soul blended sound on “For Better Or Worse” in 2019.

Driven by a groovy bassline and an infectious beat, his uplifting new single is a chilled tune with added funk. Taken from his genre-spanning EP “Heading East”, it’s the laid-back instrumentation with refreshing electric guitar runs and a 90s funk vibe that conjures the feeling of a mellow summers day by the sea. And with his smooth and sultry vocals, this is a warm and soothing sonic pleasure.
