In The Spotlight

St.Arnaud – “Love You (For Real)”

Based in Edmonton, this Canadian indie-pop project got its start as solo project for frontman Ian St. Arnaud in 2017 after the passing of close friend and musical collaborator Luke Jansen. Since then expanded into a dynamic live ensemble, they played with Basia Bulat and Lucy Rose. They also performed at worldwide festivals such as The Great Escape and Reeperbahn. Inspired by Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers and Mumford & Sons, they debuted with “Dark Horse” in 2018.

Trying to capture the fleeting moment of infatuation in which everything just feels right, their new single balances romantic sincerity with cheeky humour. Taken from their upcoming album “St.Arnaud”, expected on April 10th, the song opens with a delicious 60s soul vibe. Laidback and easygoing, it’s the smooth rhythm, mellow keys and warm horns that gently stroke our ears. And with honest vocals narrating the amorous endeavours, this retro groove is pure sonic silk.
