J. Bernardt – “Remedy”

Born in Kortrijk as Jinte Deprez, this Belgian singer-songwriter grew up being classically trained on the violin, but as a teenager he immersed himself in the alt-rock scene of bands like System Of A Down and Linkin Park. In 2004, he and two friends formed the band Balthazar. He also studied pop and jazz at the Royal Conservatory Of Ghent. He’s played festivals like Rock Werchter and Lowlands. Inspired by James Blake, Chet Faker and Frank Sinatra, he debuted solo with “Calm Down” in 2016.

With positive lyrics about finding hope and liberation after having experienced heartbreak, his new single chooses the power of healing over dwelling on sadness. Taken from his upcoming album “Wild Swim”, expected on November 13th, this song is a delicious brew of soul, funk and synthpop. Opening with retro percussion and imposing brass, it’s the wall-of-sound Motown-like backing vocals and his deep, smoldering vocals that make this vibrant groove a celebration of new beginnings.
