Carrie Baxter – “Woman”

Hailing from Waterford and now based in London, this Irish singer and songwriter comes from a musical family. Getting her start by teaching herself to play a guitar she got for Christmas, a love for performance was always in her blood. She moved to the UK to study at the London School of Musical Theatre and became a songwriter in the dance music scene working with Guy Chambers. Inspired by Erykah Badu and Amy Winehouse, she debuted her own jazz/soul sound on “Lady” in 2019.

Written as an homage to all the strong women in her life, her new single is filled with empowerment and beauty. Carrying her profound lyrics, she envelops them in a warm and inviting neo-soul and R&B blend. Starting with slow keys and a jazzy rhythm, she’s driving the song with her commanding R&B-styled vocal prowess. Layered with warmhearted harmonies and a 90s-reminiscent chorus, this beauteous tune celebrates female solidarity with stunning vulnerability and class.

Carrie Baxter – “Selfish”

Born and raised in Waterford City, this Irish songstress grew up in a musical family. She started writing songs after getting a guitar for Christmas, which evolved after discovering electronic music. Now based in London, she joined Tileyard education to hone her songwriting skills. Inspired by Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones, she debuted her jazzy, soulful sound on “Lady” in 2019.

Written a few years ago about not being able to leave a relationship, because of self-blaming or ignoring gut instinct that says things have run its course, her new single is filled with sincere honesty. Enveloping her words with a warm, acoustic piano and a perky rhythm, she forges an ear-stroking smooth soundscape. And with her jazz-infused, silky vocals, this tune is a selfless sonic gem.

Carrie Baxter – “You”

Born in Waterford, this Irish singer and songwriter moved to the UK in 2009 to study at the London School Of Musical Theatre, but was told after three months that her vocal skills were better suited to being a jazz singer. A fitness instructor by day, in order to fund her music, she draws inspiration from Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse and Kendrick Lamar. She debuted her soul/jazz blend on “Lady” in 2019.

Creating a deliciously mellow melody, filled with smoky jazz vibes and classic soul tones, her new single is pure sonic enchantment. Taken from her upcoming EP “What Now”, expected to drop on October 22nd, it’s the buttery-smooth rhythm, the laid-back electric guitar strums and her slightly raspy, emotive vocals singing about a friend’s relationship, that makes this silky jam utterly irresistible.
