Juliander – “Cold Shoulder”

Born as Albin Juliander Palmgren, this Swedish singer, songwriter and producer has been a part of the music scene from a young age. Signed by Sony at the age of 16, he’s written and co-written songs for a number of artists. He’s also toured with Zara Larsson, recorded with Noah Cyrus and performed at Coachella. Inspired by The Weeknd and The 1975, he released his debut “Same Moon” in 2017.

Fusing 80s synth-pop with contemporary elements, his new single has a punchy retro vibe that still manages to stay current. Starting with a bouncy neon synth laying down an anthemic intro, he then comes in with a modern vocal production and resonant beats. And with the addition of some early 80s strings and the warmth of his voice, this is an irresistible slice of sunlit dance-pop vigor.

Ali Angel – “Loving You Lately”

Raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, this eclectic singer and songwriter started guitar lessons aged 8. She studied Digital Media Production at University in New Orleans, hoping to become a screenwriter. However, after graduation she decided on a music career instead. Inspired by the varied sounds of Elton John, Dan Auerbach and Nicole Atkins, she debuted with “Play Pretend” in 2021.

Exploring every nook and cranny of the music spectrum on her upcoming, self-titled debut EP, expected on June 17th, she’s released singles with a classic Motown vibe and with neon 80s rock grit. Her new single harkens back to the female songwriters of the 70s, with an acoustic guitar and mellow rhythm. And with silky horns and her smoky vocals, this is a retro groove you’ve just got to love.
