LYYN – “Coyote”

Born to Chinese immigrants near Chicago, this Brooklyn-based singer and songwriter is classically trained in piano and the oboe from the age of 7. She grew up surrounded by a mix of classical, indie rock and Chinese folk music, which influence is felt in her distinct sound. Inspired by genre-bending artists such as Lana Del Rey, Roy Orbison and Robyn, she debuted with “Out Of Breath” in 2018.

Bringing an ode to an untamable love that was never meant to last, her new single explores her love of 90s dreampop. Starting the song with a melancholic mood, she blends piano chords with her emotive vocals and wildlife samples. The addition of a pulsating beat, fresh guitars and sonic oomph gives this enchanting track an embracing warmth which is irresistible until the last note.

Mereki – “Wake Up Dead”

Born in Australia and now based in the UK, this vibrant singer and songwriter has been on the music scene for over a decade. She grew up listening to the likes of Angelique Kidjo, Roxy Music and INXS. As well as writing songs for other artists, she’s fronted Goldroom and later performed with Flight Facilities on their North American Tour. She debuted her solo sound on “Blue Lake” in 2013.

With deeply personal lyrics telling the story of finding peace in a dreamworld, but feeling scared of life after waking up, her new single travels musically from a sleepy state to a vivid soundscape. Taken from her album “Death Of A Cloud”, the track starts mellow, slow and enchanting, before waking up with a Fleetwood Mac-like vitality. And with her verdant vocals, this luscious jam is a sonic dream.
