Glasgow-born and London-based, this British vocalist grew up in a musical family, in part due to her jazz pianist grandfather Gerry Smith. She sang in her church choir and attended dance classes throughout her childhood. Since starting her career she supported Gregory Porter on tour, played festivals like SXSW and venues such as Ronnie Scott’s in London and The Blue Note in Milan. Inspired by Nina Simone, D’angelo and Stevie Wonder, she released her debut “Always Be Right” in 2021.
Written as an ode to the dreamers, the poets and the lovers, her new single is a steamy and indulgent brew of jazz, soul and R&B. Taken from her recently released EP “City Girl”, she serves up a delectable sonic beverage with rich, laid-back flavors. With an easy-going percussion, mellow keys and an added touch of style from the horns, she blends classic soul with 90s-touched R&B. And with celestial backing and her sultry vocals, this tasty smooth groove is an absolute joy for your ears.
