Whitney – “Real Love”
Formed in 2015 in Chicago by roommates Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich, after their band Smith Westerns broke up, this indie-folk band started off playing live. In 2016 they played the SXSW festival as well as support artists like Tobias Jesso Jr. Now signed by Secretly Canadian and inspired by artists such as Levon Helm and Allen Toussaint, they debuted the song “No Matter Where We Go” in 2016.
Finding a recipe to join soul and blues flavors with their indie-folk sound, their new single is a true fusion of influences. Taken from their upcoming album “SPARK”, expected on September 16th, they took their feelings of anxiety and fear felt during lockdown and turned them into something luminous. With a multitude of electronic magic, this is a laidback brew that you can’t help but love.

Kristen Plati – “Break My Heart Again”
Born and raised in Perth, but now based in New York City, this multi-talented Australian singer, songwriter, actress and model started singing lessons aged 5. She attended the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Since she’s developed her own soul-pop sound, likened to Adele, Tori Kelly and Sara Bareilles. She debuted with “Find Me Lost” in 2019.
Narrating the story about giving someone a second chance in love after they hurt you, her new single pairs the emotive lyrics with an infectious retro bounce. Starting with playful guitar plucks, soon the track comes alive with gusto. Deeply dipped in the neon hues of the 80s, it’s the lively beat, sparkling synths and her powerful vocals, that will drag you on to the discoteque dancefloor.
