LUCA – “Sympathy”

Born as Luca Cuni and raised in Harlem, New York, this eclectic singer-songwriter grew up in a financially unstable household. He began strict classical piano lessons at the age of 3, which he reluctantly took for 8 years. Later he pivoted to vocals, singing in school choirs. He’s also self-taught on the guitar. Since starting his career, he’s played the Blue Note Jazz Festival and venues like CafĂ© Erzulie. Inspired by Prince, Sade and Leon Thomas, he released his debut single “Serotonin” in 2021.

Exploring the gruelling reality of staying in a toxic relationship and with someone who’s constantly hurting you, his new single follows the vicious cycle of heartbreak. Paying homage to 60s and 70s soul, this vintage song was recorded with a live-band arrangement. Driven by a rhythm of a warm bass and organic percussion, the retro organ and melancholic keys give the melody an intimate warmth. And with his gritty, soulful vocals, this smooth groove is a true treat for your ears.
