In The Spotlight

Zak – “Hallway”

Previously known as the rapper Proph3cY, this multi-talented artist moved from the San Francisco Bay area to Los Angeles to pursue his musical dream. He was bitten by the music bug at a young age, having played trumpet, guitar and ukulele. Having an affinity for songwriting directed him to hip hop and rap, but always with a vintage jazzy blues influence.

His new single was inspired by the energy of the Los Angeles nightlife and sees him move closer to modern funk. Reminiscent of Jamiroquai, the refined acid-jazz vibe of this track is pure ear-candy. The melody flows effortlessly around his expressive soulful vocals with a gentle funky beat and beautifully understated organ-style keys, designed to instill genuine happiness.
