Baby Rose – “Better”

Born Jasmine Rose Wilson in Washington, D.C., this singer/songwriter grew up in a bustling, music-loving household, where she was exposed to a wide variety of genres, from church hymns to 70s funk and acid jazz. Totally self-taught, she began playing piano aged 9 and entered a talent show aged 14. She’s played festivals like Reeperbahn and Mad Cool and venues like Paradiso in Amsterdam. Inspired by Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin, she released her debut “Mortal” in 2019.

Singing about breaking free from a stagnant relationship, her new single chooses emotional healing and inner peace over staying caught in a vicious circle of broken romance. Taken from her recently released album “YEARNALISM”, this song is a mix of neo-soul and R&B. Relying heavily on vintage instruments and analog production, it’s the groovy bass, jazzy guitars and 70s-styled drums that create a smoky melody. And with her gravelly vocals, this slow-burning groove is intoxicating.
