John Muirhead – “I Tried Love”

Based in Toronto, this Canadian singer and songwriter took his first musical steps in church choirs and community singing gatherings. Attending his first concert of Street Dogs aged 12 ignited his musical spark and soon he picked up a guitar and taught himself to play. Since he’s played festivals like Winnipeg Folk Festival and Gate To Southwell in the UK and venues such as Paradiso. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and The Lumineers, he debuted with “Yesterday’s Smile” in 2016.

His new single is about dealing with the unhealthy ways we cope with the heavy burdens modern life can bring in favour of love, human connection and hope. Taken from his recently released album “The Nomad & The Never Ending Road”, this song combines honest lyrics with a slow-building indie-folk melody. Opening with his fingerpicked acoustic guitar, it slowly swells with added piano and steady drums. And with his authentically raw vocals, this lush anthem is pure passion.
