In The Spotlight

Jake Clark – “Worst Enemy”

Hailing from California, this young singer, songwriter and actor began his career in 2017, uploading covers to his YouTube channel. A year later he competed on The Talent Show on the YouTube channel Brat TV, reaching the semi-finals. He’s acted in “To The Beat!: Back To School” in 2020 and auditioned for American Idol 19 in 2021. Inspired by artists such as Lauv, he debuted with “The Drive” in 2018.

Tackling the relatable topic of feeling lonely and insecure, his new single confronts his overwhelming self-doubt. Enveloping the emotional lyrics with a charming minimal melody, the tune starts with just an acoustic guitar, but is later joined by crisp keys and an mellow rhythm. And with his smooth and emotive vocals stroking the notes, this ear-catching song is elegant, charismatic and welcoming.
