Thee Sacred Souls – “Running Away”

Formed in 2019 by singer Josh Lane, drummer Alex Garcia and bassist Sal Samano, this San Diego-based trio began uploading some 30-second demos to Instagram, which found their way to Daptone Records head Gabe Roth. They developed an intricate blend of suave 60s soul and groovy 70s R&B. Inspired by Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Al Green, they debuted with “Can I Call You Rose” in 2020.

Imaging yourself in the midst of the swinging 60s for little over 3 minutes, their new single is dripping with vintage soulfulness. Lyrically highlighting the importance of remaining true in a relationship and the devastation when it’s taken for granted, the track unfolds with balmy bass plucks, riveting rhythm and lively horns. And with sugary-sweet vocals tickling your ears, this tune is a soulful gem.

Lenn – “Silicone”

Growing up in Hertfordshire with only Christian music in the home, this rising British singer and songwriter didn’t discover other genres until she was in her teens. Finding her own distinctive style, she joined Icarus on their sold-out tour and on their song “Last Night Felt Like The Future” in 2022. Inspired by artists like Bon Iver and James Blake, she released her debut “Dreams Are A Nightmare” in 2023.

With vulnerable lyrics about wishing you knew the outcome of your life’s decisions, before making a mistake, her new single blends smooth modern R&B with elements of electro-pop. Creating an irresistible dreamscape, it’s the elegant piano, gentle beat and shimmering synths that adds a delicate sensibility. And with her emotive, celestial vocal tone, this luscious tune is a true sonic treat.
