Boris René – “What The Funk”

This Congolese-born Swedish former footballer grew up in a Michael Jackson-loving family. Although he initially chose a career in sports – becoming a defender with several Swedish league clubs – he decided to further his musical passion, aged 20. He released his debut single “Alive” in 2013 and also competed in the Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Songcontest in 2016 and 2017.

Drenched in some sprightly, old skool vibes, his new single is an electrifying, funkalicious party in your ears. With a bracing bass line, an infectious beat and the vitalizing synths pulling you onto the dancefloor, it’s his effervescent, soulful vocals, actually referencing Michael Jackson in the lyrics, that make this a high-spirited, upbeat, funkadelic groove, you just have to moonwalk to.

Sonali – “All Or Nothing”

Having studied and making music since she was a young girl, this dynamic and inspiring Indian-American pop/folk songstress attended NYU’s Tisch School Of The Arts. She released her debut EP “Wake Up” in 2014, which earned her critical acclaim. This Yorkshire lassie started taking singing lessons as an early teen and playing keyboard from a young age. She’s also a member of the choral musical collective Leeds Contemporary Singers, with whom she won the BBC singing show “Pitch Battle” in 2017. As a solo artist she feels inspired by idols Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse, which translates into her jazz, soul and pop fusion sound.

Kicking off her new single with just a mellow jazz piano and her enchanting soulful vocals, creates a suave and sophisticated soundscape. Now with over 3 million subscribers, she’s a rising star on the music scene. With a vibrant pop sound, influenced by artists such as Taylor Swift, Colbie Caillat and Lana Del Rey, she’s released three original and six cover albums and starred in the movie “School Spirits” in 2017.

Apart from Prince, he’s worked with legends such as George Benson, Peter Frampton and Oleta Adams. He’s also part of the bands fDeluxe and The Mpls Funk All Stars, celebrating the famous Minneapolis sound.

With a 70s wah wah guitar tickling your funky bone, his new solo single starts as it means to go on – as an uplifting tribute to those vintage funkadelic vibes. Tristan – “I Left My Jacket In The Van”

With ground-breaking arrangements giving their 70s-styled acid-jazz sound a contemporary twist, this Dutch quintet has found the perfect aural balance. Influenced by bands like Tower Of Power and Incognito, they use classic analog instrumentation, as well as up-to-date synths to add an energetic freshness to the warmth of the 70s vibes. They debuted with their album “Full Power” in 2014.
