December Streets – “Last Forever”

Hailing from Pretoria in South Africa, this quintet of indie rockers was formed in 2009. The current line-up, build around lead singer Tristan Coetzee and bassist and saxophonist Gideon Meyer, met while attending the University Of Pretoria. They released their debut EP in 2011 and have been frequenting the national charts since with songs like “Fire Through The Window” and “My Name”.

Bouncy, energetic and with a much needed sense of fun, their new single delivers a sprightly splash of indie-rock goodness. Despite a lyrical reminder that nothing lasts forever, it highlights the path that follows and leads to bigger and better things. With an exuberant beat, happiness-inducing guitars and a touch of violins, this jam provides some joyfulness in an otherwise daunting world.

Aaron Frazer – “Over You”

Raised in Baltimore, but now firmly rooted in Brooklyn, this singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is no stranger to the limelight. He got his first taste of fame as part of Durand Jones & The Indications, for which he wrote a plethora of tracks and was co-lead singer. Having caught the ear of producer and Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach, he’s taking his sweet soul sound down a fresh solo path.

Transporting even the most trained ear back to the mid-60s soul peak, his debut single takes that vintage sound and blends it with his effortless falsetto voice. Taken from his forthcoming album “Introducing…”, to be released on January 8th 2021, it’s the flashy rhythm, groovy bass line and the retro-dipped melodic feast that makes this debut an intoxicating, soul-drenched delight.
