Japanese Breakfast – “Be Sweet”

Born as Michelle Zauner in South Korea, this singer and songwriter moved to the USA when she was 9 months old. While studying at Bryn Mawr College she fronted several bands, such as Little Big League with whom she released 2 albums. Inspired by artists like Björk, she debuted her grief-infused lyrics, genre-spanning sound and brand new moniker on her 2016 album “Psychopomp”.

Celebrating a new-found joy with sonic exuberance, her new single wraps itself in 80s technicolor. Taken from her upcoming album “Jubilee”, expected to drop on June 4th, the melodic soundscape merges a vigorous retro beat and shimmering synths, creating a fresh take on gleeful 80s pop. And with her irresistible vocals and infectious, highly danceable chorus, this vivid sweet gem is shining brightly.
