In The Spotlight

The Dip – “Real Contender”

Hailing from Seattle, this seven-piece blue-eyed soul outfit found each other studying jazz at the University of Washington. Influenced by the likes of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and James Brown, they are championing the classic soul sound. They’ve performed at various festivals like BottleRock, opened for Durand Jones & The Indications and debuted with their funky, self-titled album in 2015.

Transporting you back to the soulful sixties with a buttery smoothness, their new single explores every crevice of those delicious classic sounds. Taken from their new album “Sticking With It”, it’s the flavorsome drums, rich guitars and Tom Eddy’s sweet vocals that first tickle your fancy, but soon it’s enriched with mellifluous horns and an uplifting vibe that make this exciting groove a sonic gem.
