In The Spotlight

Annabel Gutherz – “Interstellar”

Hailing from Montreal, this rising Canadian singer and songwriter was supported in various creative endeavors from a young age. She started writing original songs as a teen and has since graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Inspired by storytellers like Stevie Nicks, Alicia Keys and Elton John, she debuted with “Legends” in 2018, the proceeds of which went to education-based charities.

Singing about an ex and the conflicting emotions in the aftermath of a breakup, her new single invokes a galactic vibe that is out-of-this-world. With a grandiose, theatrical instrumentation from the imposing percussion and the howling electric guitars, it’s her crisp and emotive vocals telling the relatable story that makes this opulent, retro-touched sonic experience shine like the brightest star.

In The Spotlight

Roseburg – “Alice”

Named after the small town in Oregon where they met in 2016, this quartet of alt-rockers has an unusual origin story. Zach Knell, Samuel Sheppard and Keith Lambson found each other while serving as missionaries. Now based in Provo, Utah and under the mentorship of Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, they’ve added Soren Buchert to their lineup. They debuted with “Stay Golden” in 2018.

Returning after a two-and-a-half year hiatus, their new single has a timeless vibrancy. Originally written by Zach when he was 16 years young, he’s infused the track with a kaleidoscope of sonic colors. Lyrically incorporating rich themes like purpose, life and love, it’s the resonant beats, magnetic guitar riffs and charismatic vocals, that turn this euphoric auditory blend into a remarkable, anthemic jam.
