Michael Barrow & The Tourists – “Sweet Honey”

Consisting of Michael Barrow, Trevor Harmon, Alessandro Improta, Reed Perkins and Zach Collier, this folk/rock group from Provo, Utah got together in 2016 and layered soulful, expressive vocals with John Mayer-esque guitars and rich textures to create an exceptional, blues-dipped retro-folk sound. They opened for John Allred and Ben Rector and released their debut album “Juneau” in 2017.

Buzzing with a stunning vintage vibe, their new single is a hive of various genres, all blending into one, honeyed unity. The soul-soaked, retro-rock is dipped in folksy goodness and infused with some boiling blues. With the 60s-doused electric guitars, bouncy drums and a drop of classic organ enriching the sugary harmonies and soulful vocals, this is a sweet sounding taste of  musical nectar.

CHARLOTTE – “I Tell Lies”

Hailing from Hull, this remarkable British singer and songwriter started singing and playing in her grand-parents touring band aged 4 and, influenced by classic soul legends like Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding, began writing her own songs aged 7. Discovered by renowned hit maker Toby Gad, her unique sound adds a modernity to classic soul and lyrically infuses it with a brutal honesty.

Her debut single starts with just an acoustic guitar and the introduction of her powerful, soul-touched voice, which has an emotive depth well beyond her 21 years. Taken from her upcoming debut EP “Nowhere To Hide”, which is due to drop on May 3rd, she dipped a bit of perky bossanova into classic soul, added some authentic vinyl crackle and created a bubbly smooth groove that’s no lie.
