In The Spotlight

Courtney Cooper – “Sugar High”

Hailing from Brooklyn, this New York City girl is a singer and songwriter who forged her own alternative R&B sound. Although she grew up listening to 90s artists such as Timbaland and Missy Elliott, she went to study jazz at Berklee College Of Music. Boosting her hiphop influences, she also draws inspiration from the rich R&B of Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. She debuted with “Only Love” in 2016.

With a honeyed sophistication and tasty, candy-coated sweetness, her new single is a delicious mix of tasty musical flavors. Starting this aromatic delight with a lavish funky beat and 70s-dipped electric guitars, she effortlessly adds a buttery, 90s-soaked R&B nectar. And with her creamy vocals, dunked in luscious soulfulness, this delectable treat is pure mouth-watering temptation.
