Quinn DeVeaux & The California Honeydrops – “Very Best Thing”

Born in Gary, Indiana, this soulster was raised on 80’s R&B and classic rock. However his grandmother was a jazz singer, while his uncle was booking shows for the likes of Howlin’ Wolf and opened his ears to the blues of Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters. After moving to San Fransisco, he’d expanded to legends like Bill Whithers and Al Green. He released his debut EP “This Could Be Yours” in 2018.

Enlisting the rich sound of R&B/blues band The California Honeydrops, his new single encompasses all that is good of classic soul. From the warm bass line and the crisp guitars to the retro organ and blazing horns, this 60s-dipped tune sounds like an unexpected find in a dusty Stax or Motown vault.
