Nick J.D. Hodgson – “RSVP”

Previously the drummer, backing vocalist and songwriter of the band Kaiser Chiefs, this British singer has searched and found a unique sound of his own. Since he left the band in 2012 he focused his attention to writing and studio work. He wrote songs for Mark Ronson, Olly Murs and Dua Lipa amongst many others and in Spring 2017 he started working on his debut solo album.

His new single, like the rest of the album, was recorded in his home studio in London and he played all of the instruments himself. The sound is influenced by 60s BritPop with a hint of folk and a touch of rock. Dipped in Beatles-esque tones, it has a perky beat, punchy piano and buzzing guitars, framing his breezy, multi-layered vocals. It’s a delectable slice of musical magic.

From his upcoming album “Tell Your Friends”, to be released on 26 January 2018:

Fieh – “Glu”

Although lead-singer Sofie Tollefsbøl is clearly the face of this Norwegian band from Oslo, there are actually 9 members. She started the band three years ago by putting together experienced musicians who were all on the jazz course she was taking at the Norwegian Academy Of Music. Their sound is a blend of lush contemporary electronics generously laden with funk, soul and jazz influences.

This is their first official single and it’s a glorious debut indeed. Intricate instrumentation with a funky rhythm and infectious hand claps lay the groundwork for this energetic arrangement to take shape. Sculpted with jazzy synths, a vintage organ bridge, smooth guitar chords and Sofie‘s hypnotic vocals, it has a laid-back, summery vibe to warm up any cold winter’s day.

Emily Litta – “Tomboy”

Half Italian, half kiwi and living in London, this R&B songstress has also attended the Berklee School Of Music in Boston, USA and is ready to take her rightful place on the music scene with her passionate and funky blend of Motown, old-school hip hop and blues. Being a gifted singer and songwriter, she dazzles with her vocal, story-telling and even rapping artistry.

A funky bass line takes the listener on a journey through her musicality on her latest single. She wrote the song after walking into a clothing store to get a large sweatshirt from the men section, following a long and uncomfortable day full of meetings. A fluid R&B feel, a groovy beat and sumptuous guitar riffs provide a soft bed for her luscious vocals to snuggle up to.

Andy Allo – “This Christmas”

Born in Cameroon and now residing in Sacramento, USA, this singer, songwriter, actress and model is no stranger to the funky side of R&B. The Great Escape – “Season Of Love”

Malte Hagemeister, Kristian Nord and Ingrid Andersson make up this band from Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Their style is eclectic, raw and stunningly unpredictable. It’s indie pop, but they’re spanning the genres by drizzling rock, jazz, R&B and boogie woogie over it. Their latest album “Universe In Bloom” shows off that unique and infectious pop sound, based on retro melodies, yet sounding incredibly fresh.

Their yuletide single has all the makings of a Christmas classic. A happy rhythm, a glockenspiel and oodles of jingling bells set the winter wonderland for a message of compassion and goodwill, as the proceeds are donated to the St. Joseph Center in Venice Beach, which is a non-profit who provides hot meals, housing and much more to the homeless. So, bring on the holiday cheer for all!
