This Minneapolis-based husband and wife duo, consisting of Chris and Rebekah Bartels, debuted in 2013 with their album “Dreaming Free”, conceived as a music school senior project and intended to be folk. However, Chris fell in love with a synth pop sound and introduced a funkier side on their second album “Secret Youth” in 2015. While raising three young children, they’re always honing their artistry.
Taken from their upcoming third album “Emotion Vertigo”, which is expected to drop on November 8th, their new single delves into the vintage vortex of 80s synths. With a distinctly funkalicious vibe from the electronic gadgetry, groovy guitar strums and her refreshingly upbeat vocals worming their way into your ears, this revitalizing portion of glittering retro pop is something especially fine indeed.

Born in Ottawa, this Canadian singer, songwriter and producer started singing at the age of 8 and was playing guitar and writing her own songs at 14. She graduated from Fanshawe College with a diploma in Music Industry Arts. Finding an outlet for her soul, R&B and pop vocal blend, she co-founded the band Daytrip. As a solo artist, she released her debut single “Harsh Lights” early 2019.
Going back to basics with gorgeous, auditory minimalism, her new single is a sparkling smooth groove. Enticing from the start with a mellow acoustic guitar and her enchanting, soulful voice, this astounding track puts your ears under its magical spell. Adding an easygoing beat and harmonious backing vocals, it melds silky soul and gentle R&B with a touch of mild jazz to emit a stunning warmth.
