Major Funk – “Slippin'”

Founded by bassist Étienne Girard in 2014, these 7, highly skilled, Canadian musicians have been getting crowds moving across the country at festivals like Kaslo Jazz Fest and Folk On The Rocks. Inspired by classic 70s funk bands such as Chic as well as modern pop and new funk artists like Vulfpeck, they give old school sounds a contemporary twist. They released their debut EP “Thoughts” in 2018.

Drawing on the vigorous funk grooves of the 1970s, their new single is a shot of pure sonic energy. Taken from their album “Is That You?” and guided by the potent bass, brisk percussion and playful wah-wah guitars, it’s the booming brass that truly brings this track to life. And with Selina’s powerful, soul-drenched vocals soaring over the notes, this catchy jam is stuffed with funkalicious, feel-good fun.
